Audi V8 - They call him Rusty

If you hear the word " Rusty" * in connection with the magic shortcut V8, one immediately thinks of a Rat Rod or another ridden down cars from the heyday of American automobile manufacturing.

This is probably the least but one an old Audi in the hands of a student's mind, right? Die Wahl fiel auf einen 92er 4,2 V8 mit 280 PS, Allrad und einer kaum Wünsche offen lassenden Ausstattung. Da der Lack absolut tot war, machte man sich rasch daran, die Karosserie bis auf das letzte Lackpartikelchen runterzuschleifen und unterzog den V8 einer ordentlichen Rostkur. Manch einer fragt sich: Wieso ein Fully galvanized car from the registration of such an ordeal to undergo?

Rolf tauschte die „Sofasitze“ gegen Sportsitze von Audi mit allem möglichen Luxus wie Memory und Sitzheizung, verbaute eine abnehmbare Anhängerkupplung, um die Alltagstauglichkeit zu steigern, legte ihn ca. 60mm tiefer mit gelben Koni-Stoßdämpfern, ersetzte die originale Auspuffanlage gegen eine Anlage aus VA-Edelstahl, die mit 4 Endrohren endgültig Schluss mit original macht und dem V8 zu einem satten Klang verhilft. Schwarze Treser-Rückleuchten und passende Schlappen runden das Bild vom Bad 'n' Rusty-Kraut V8 ab. Als Rolf dann beim TÜV alle Umbauten eintragen ließ, gab ihm der Prüfer noch einen guten Tipp mit auf den Weg: Er solle doch bitte ein Auge auf die Rostvorsorge werfen. Endlich mal ein Prüfer mit Humor!
Durch die Umbauten gefiel Rolf der Wagen nun noch besser als beim Kauf und auch die üppige Summe an Kohle, die das Endzeit-Schlachtschiff bis dato verschlungen hatte, verleiteten him to give the V8 a longer asylum.

Den gibt's ja sogar wirklich, habe ich letztens festgestellt, ist in meinen Augen aber mindestens so albern, wie auflackierter Dreck am Geländewagen“.
Rolf liebt seinen rostigen Alltags-Gefährten, der sich im Schnitt 15 Liter auf 100 km und 2 Liter Öl auf 1000 km gönnt und damit ebenso wenig beim Sprit spart, wie Rolf und seine Kommilitonen auf den Uni-Parties am Wochenende.
Dank grüner Umweltplakette schafft er es dennoch bis vor den Hörsaal und mit den 280 PS auch immer rechtzeitig, selbst wenn der Wecker mal wieder seinen Dienst verpennt hat.

Dass Rolf anders ist und seine fahrbaren Untersätze ebenso, das hat man nun ausreichend begriffen und erkannt, doch den krönenden Absch(l)uss bringt er mit der Beantwortung der Frage nach dem Kilometerstand: „Kilometerstand unbekannt, vorgedreht auf 768 TSD .“

Heute ist es das Hauptquartier von General Motors - einst der größte Autobauer der Welt, im vergangenen Jahr kurz vor dem Aus.
